RATUSZOVA Restaurant……the passion for eating
Right in the center of Wielkopolska`s main city,
on the ground floor and in the cellar of tenement no. 55, time has mysteriously stopped….
But only just for a moment.
The interior, permeated with history and regal echoes is now re-energised and enhanced with a fresh, modern brush stroke.
For over half a century the tenement has been home to the Ratuszova Restaurant, a place where the historic blends with modernity, where this lovely renaissance building is filled with the aroma of traditional Polish cuisine, and where guests are treated like individuals.
Ratuszova is more than just a restaurant – it is a real encounter with history, and not only, here you can savour our best and enduring Polish culinary traditions …… The aroma of history !
The interior arrangement remind us of the strong connection with old Polish customs, and forms
the perfect background for a truly delightful cuisine which will tickle and satisfy the most fastidious
of palates.
All who visit Ratuszova will come to the same conclusion: that the restaurant was most definitely established on the foundation of a real fondness for tradition and food. In 1657, no. 55 was visited by Polish King Jan Kazimierz II Waza – he must have liked it because he stayed for one year, so we could say without reservation that Ratuszova was once a royal residence. Whilst in nr. 55, the King inspired the creation of an interior full of noble and regal expressions and extravagances…. Balls and parties often lasted until dawn. To break with tradition just a little, the new owners decided to add touches from the beginning of previous century.
As a result, for example, the one - time dimness
of the cellar is dispelled by lamps and Ratuszova`s decor is complemented by designer quality decorations a and high quality furniture.
We have prepared 4 areas for our Guests to cater for their different needs:
Restaurant, Cafe, Bar and summer garden.
RESTAURANT – This is Ratuszova`s hallmark, the perfect place for an exquisite dinner, accompanied by family, friends, or business clients. The arches and walls of the cellar with its recreation of forest and hunting scenes invoke a vibrant atmosphere where these representations almost spring to life……you simply have to see it to experience it.
CAFE – a cosy area with a window on to the Old Square and the striking Town Hall. This part of Ratuszova is perfect for a relaxing meeting accompanied by a light meal, a snack or cake and aromatic coffee, or and a cup of absolutely delicious RONEFELDT tea, which has a heritage from 1823. We are particularly proud of these teas , they are probably the best in the World. We have 15 flavours for you to try.
BAR – a favourite place for connoisseur of cigars, wines and other strong tipples. Deserving extra special attention is STARKA VODKA from Szczecin, northwest Poland. Aged for 50 years it is the noblest and most mysterious of all Polish vodkas, having a 500 year pedigree. This is a truly unique tawny vodka with a rich bouquet, which you should savour neat. Enjoy it at the bar or at your table, but always at your leisure…
Also worth mentioning is the delicious fruit liquer with well-kept recipe harks back to the times of the nobles and Ratuszova`s special guest – King Kazimierz II.
There is something about sitting at the bar, either alone or with friends. Ours is very cosy and you can chat with the experienced and knowledgeable bar staff about life, the universe and everything, including our premium quality spirits.
SPRING AND SUMMER GARDEN
When the days get longer, and temper natures rise as the sun gains more confidence, you will be able to enjoy our shaded terrace garden tastefully set directly on the Square. Here you can have a full or light meal, a snack, cake and coffee or tea, or beer all in your time. Take in the fresh air, observe the promenading locals and tourists, or look at the historic buildings. This is a lovely place to be when it is warmer, sunnier…..brighter…..you will feel a lot better.
